The Ukrainian public broadcaster’s 2021 report (print + video documentary) on the Liubech-1 garrison, built around participant interviews: former officer Ihor Byzghan describes the two transmitting antennas - ‘litera A and litera B, one 150 metres tall, the other 75’ - radiating toward Scandinavia, and retired colonel Volodymyr Nieretin recalls the cover story told to locals (‘a long-range space communications centre, something like that’). Also carries the dismantling of the central antenna in the early 2000s and the unit’s formal end in 2008. One internal inconsistency carried in our footnotes: the article’s own lede says ‘140-metre antenna’ while its interviewee says 150 and 75. Quotations on this site are our translation.
