Cold War Tech is researched, written and built by Robin Monks, both as a labor of love and also because I find the Cold War era's technology forever fascinating. This page credits the typefaces, tools and communities that make the archive possible.

The site runs on Kirby CMS, a flat-file PHP CMS that keeps the archive speedy and easy to edit and back up.

The EPUB reader, PDF previews, the Markdown and llms.txt endpoints for AI agents, and the analytics integration are in-house plugins built for this archive. Hopefully someday I'll have the time to open source them.

Inspiration

A grateful nod to the r/longlines community, whose photographs and site surveys of AT&T Long Lines towers and other hardened infrastructure rekindled my interest in Cold War technology and set this archive in motion.
